QUICK NOTE...
I noticed during our critiques last week that many of your infographics were either incomplete, or were blocks of text with a few pictures thrown in. Please use your time wisely to make sure that infographic is not only complete, but also eye-catching and accurate. ALSO...if you need to make it bigger so that it looks better, do it! Class Revise and refine your infographics. We will do a final critique in the last half of class on Friday. HOMEWORK Final Draft Infographics DUE at the start of class on Thursday. HOMEWORK: Finish researching the four questions above. DUE: Tuesday, SOC. Hey all- I was going to launch our project today, but you've all managed to infect me with this grossness that's going around, so I'm staying home. Today for you is an exploration, to help you figure out what drug you might want to focus on for our upcoming project. Here are the tasks I want you to complete today. We will be using these as the basis for Monday's lesson, so be sure you complete them!:
Task 1: Brainstorm- What do you already know? What questions do you have? (5 minutes) In pairs, brainstorm two lists. The topic is drugs and your brain (thinking about physical effects and neurotransmission).
Task 2: Introductory Videos and Notes (20 minutes) Now, watch these introductory videos from the HBO Addiction documentary. Add to your notes at least three things that you learned from each video. Task 3: Exploration Now that you have a sense of what we'll be looking for, take a moment to explore, and think about what drug you might want to choose to focus on. Here are some resources for you:
Task 4: FINAL NOTES Look at the list of potential drugs to focus on below. As of right now, after your exploration, which one do you think you are most interested in? Why? Potential Drugs
HOMEWORK: None, unless you didn't finish tasks 1-4. If you didn't finish them by Monday. Opener: Share with your group what the most interesting thing that you’ve learned so far about your hormone.
