Infographic Revisions
Work on revising and finalizing your infographics. At some point before it's due you should bring it to me for feedback! Keep checking it against the rubric! Homework: Final Infographic Draft is due Friday, 11/17 at the end of class. Save as a pdf or jpeg and submit it on Google Classroom. Make sure the size is good, and the resolution is at least 300 dpi! Infographic Critiques
Follow the instructions linked here for this Three phase critique. Phase 1 You are going to decide if you are looking for visual design feedback, content feedback, or a bit of both and plant your computer at the table reflecting this. Then, you will go to a different table and give feedback in sticky notes next to each computer. You need to make a minimum of 5 critiques on sticky notes. After this, you’ll need to go back to your machine and complete the rest of the worksheet reflection. Hand in the reflection when you're done to move to phase 2. Phase 2 For phase two, you’ll need to share your infographic with a partner who you don’t normally work with and who is not doing the same drug as you. You can share a copy of your infographic over google drive or just hand them your laptop. Then, you’ll each need to fill out your critiques for each other. Remember to focus on making actionable and useful suggestions to improve their posters. I do not want to see any “this is great,” unless it is followed by what makes it so and why. Once you are done with your critiques of each other you can give them to your partner then head back to your tables. Phase 3 Finally, once you have done the gallery walk and done an in-depth critique with a partner, you will need to fill out the final reflection asking for three refinements you’re going to make before Friday. Once this is complete you can get started on work time once again. This is your ONLY CHANCE to get critiqued before the final is due, so make sure you take it seriously! HOMEWORK: Infographic FINAL: Due at Midnight on Sunday, 11/26 TURN IN - Research Parts 1 & 2 by TONIGHT at Midnight
Conferences Today I want to check in with all of you and your progress with your infographics. If you are absent and want some feedback, email your drafts to me before the school day ends. Otherwise, have a rough draft ready for critiques on Monday. Infographic Rough Draft Work on your infographic. Make sure that you include all the required elements (look at your project handout if you're not sure what these are), and be thoughtful about style and design choices! Homework: None if you are satisfied with your rough draft for critiques. Infographic rough drafts will be due Monday, 11/13 Before Class. TURN IN: Research Parts 1 and 2
Infographic Rough Draft Work on your infographic. Make sure that you include all the required elements (look at your project handout if you're not sure what these are), and be thoughtful about style and design choices! Homework: None for now. Infographic rough drafts will be due Monday, 11/3. Directions:
In your groups, you will be looking at different drug infographics, and analyzing their quality. This is to show you what to do (and perhaps what NOT to do!), and to give you ideas for your own infographic. As a group, you will be rotating through the tables each with their own infographic to explore. For each of the examples, your group should discuss, and each person should individually jot down notes on the following aspects on the sheets on your tables. Space and Focus:
Professional Examples: Example 1: The Drugs and Your Brain Example 2: This is Your Brain on Prescription Drugs Example 3: Your Brain on Bath Salts Student Examples: Example 1: Caffeine & Its Effect on Your Brain Example 2: Your Brain on Psilocybin Example 3: Cocaine: A Crackin’ Good Time! IF YOU WERE ABSENT Look at the assignment on google classroom and fill out three of the pages with examples and the last two pages of reflection. HOMEWORK: Finish up research parts 1 & 2 due FRIDAY. Announcements:
Research parts 1 & 2 are due next Tuesday, 11/7. Now that we’ve got a lot of research that we’re going to need about our individual drugs, it’s time that we compare unlike substances to each other. You are going to join a group that is not in the same category as your drug. You’ll find your category color coated on the drugs master list. For example, if you studied an upper, you need to find a psychedelic, downer, or other. In your groups, you’ll need to answer the questions on the assignment on Google Classroom. Take notes on the key differences between your substance and others in case it’s important for your poster (looking at you opiates, psychedelics, and uppers). Groups based on type of drugs: Uppers
Find someone from a different category than you to fill out the assignment on Google Classroom. If you complete your comparison you can continue working on your research that's now due Friday night, 11/10. |
